Hello tumblr, long time no see! I thought it was time for me to give you guys a little update, so that you don’t get bored and leave me! Here is a piece I did at the end of the school year, about a month ago. I like to call them the Black Metal Guardians…. They keep babies safe from the terrors of over-christian, commercial winter holidays. They are made of cut paper, with tiny thread joints. It’s supposed to represent winter, a season where I like to spend a lot of time by myself, outside in the cold night listening to black metal.

The scan got a bit shiny and weird but hey. I don’t really care, okay?

Celebrate finishing art school by drawing more.

Finished one spread of the picture book, working on another. I think I shall keep them black & white to keep with the zine feel. If you haven’t listened to Ghost Mice by now, you should have (this book is based off one of their songs).

I REALLY don’t want to study art history any more.

I was testing out water colour on my book spreads today but it’s just not punk rock enough! I think it might be time to break out the Xerox machine, dental floss thread and Sharpie.

Guache on Illustration Board 2013

Here is an artsy photo of a painting I finished today. I don’t really like painting but I’ve been doing it a lot this year. Pretty pleased with this piece. Heavy inspiration from Chris Dyer and Skinner as well as Shaman culture. I’ll be taking a proper photo tomorrow along with all my lithographs. Now excuse me while I make some popcorn.

Finals season is here! This is my final litho project, on an aluminum plate instead of stone. We finished printing today and it feels great. No problems. Photos of the edition to come. I guess that little worm is me… maybe.

A project I started today. I’ve been very interested in visionary artists lately. I am currently watching a dimethyl-triptamine & ayhuascha documentary which is so fascinating

One of my best friends from back home sent me this mask of her father. It’s the only thing she claims to be able to draw… apart from balloons. I love it every time she overcomes her apparent intimidation of my artiness and makes me something. Perfect little pick-me-up for these stressful, grey times!
